Zebra Safari Uganda

In Uganda you can find Plains or Burchell Zebras living in small family groups along with other family groups large herds as both found inĀ  Kidepo Valley National Park and Lake Mburo National Park. They are best known for their distinctive striped coat. The stripes area like fingerprints and no two zebras are exactly alike. Stripes are generally seen as a type of camouflage to safeguard them from predators making it harder for a predator such as lion to distinguish one particular zebra. Others speculate that the stripes may keep insects at bay, or the stripes may be a natural kind of sunscreen and the stripes may assist zebras in recognizing one another and the list of speculations for zebra stripes goes on.

Fact is that no other animal with as a unique coat as the Zebra. It is a beautiful sight to see them in groups grazing on grass and grooming one other or simply moving as a group or herd. The zebras alone make it worth while to visit Lake Mburo National Park while in Uganda. Lake Mburo National Park along with the Burchell Zebras found there make it a great park to visit for a one day or short safari and you will definitely see some Zebras while in these parks.

The Zebra stripes have inspired trends in the world, which makes them a Unique specie in the world. Did you know that Zebras sleep standing up, and only when they are in groups that can warn them of danger.
